Hilsa ban: 5 injured in attack during drive in Bhola
Five people, including an officer of local Fisheries and Livestock Department, were injured in an alleged attack by fishermen at Ilisha Bongerchar in Bhola early today during a drive to protect hilsa.
SM Azharul Islam, the district fisheries officer, said a team of local administration and officials concerned of the fisheries department conducted a drive in Meghna River with a speedboat and two trawlers last night.
A trawler carrying 13 to 14 fishermen hurled brick chips at the officials leaving five of them injured.
Mohammad Asaduzzaman, the upazila fisheries officer, Executive Magistrate (AC Land) Abu Abdullah Khan and Police constable Russel were among the injured.
They were taken to Sadar Hospital. Besides, river police arrested six people for catching hilsa illegally from Meghna river this morning.
Police also seized 1,000 metres of net from their possession.
